Deck friends.
On Monday, I had to move out of my palatial two-story flat and into the studio flat that, during my year here, belonged to my neighbor-friend. I worried that it would seem strange to settle down in his flat, but it turns out not to feel much like his flat--not least because he and I have very different ways of settling into a place. For my upper-story view, I've traded in a perspective on the college's courtyard that feels more familiar. But the flowers growing through the slats of this place's balcony are a completely different variety than the ones I had only two doors down. I don't know what these are, but I love to greet them in the morning when I have my coffee beside the open door.
